Indiana’s French Lick Resort Casino
The 3000-acre property on which French Lick Resort Casino in Indiana is constructed straddles to cities – French Lick and West Baden. This unique geography explains the names of the resorts two historic hotels – French Lick Springs Hotel and West Baden Springs Hotel – which have nearly 700 rooms between them.
First opened in 2006, the casino was originally designed as a riverboat in keeping with Indiana State law, with a small moat constructed around the venue to create the effect of a riverboat on a pond. This is how French Lick Resort Casino came to be known to locals as the boat in the moat.
In 2008, however, gaming laws changed in the state and the site’s owners, Orange County Holdings, opted to fill the moat, thus making French Lick Resort Casino the first land-based casino in Indiana.
Today, in addition to its two spa hotels, French Lick Resort Casino features three golf courses, riding stables, several restaurants, a 51000-square-foot Vegas-style casino, heated swimming pools, and RV park, and more.
Las-Vegas Style Casino
Instead of the usual Southern theme featured at most riverboat casinos, French Lick Resort Casino is all things Vegas.
The 51 000 square feet of gaming space are housed a staggering 27 000 feet below the casino ceiling. There are over 1000 slots, video poker and video keno titles on offer at French Lick Resort Casino, as well as 37 live-dealer table games.
French Lick Resort Casino is also home to the state’s largest non-smoking gaming room, which spans 9 500 square feet, as will as a high-limit gaming area and VIP Lounges.
In addition to enjoying the many games on offer, French Lick Resort Casino players can take in live entertainment and DJs as well as casual dining in the casino lounge.
Two Historic Spa Hotels
- French Lick Springs Hotel
The French Lick Resort Casino property was originally the site of the French Lick Springs Hotel, which was constructed in 1845. Unfortunately, the hotel burned down in 1897 but it was soon rebuilt with the addition of a spa wing in 1901.
The tradition of the French Lick Springs Hotel lives on at French Lick Resort Casino in the form of a 443-room luxury destination, where guests can enjoy tennis, golf, spa treatments, shopping, mountain-biking, hiking, swimming, and more.
Among the French Lick Resort Casino amenities and activities available at the non-smoking French Lick Springs Hotel are heated outdoor and indoor swimming pools; a hot tub; a 24-hour fitness centre; riding stables; historic tours; gift shops; pet-friendly rooms; various electric car charging stations; mineral spa treatments; and formal gardens; among others.
- West Baden Springs Hotel
There are 243 rooms in the other French Lick Resort Casino overnight venue – the West Baden Springs Hotel, which was originally erected in 1902. The West Baden Springs Hotel is located a mile away in the adjacent town of West Baden.
